Station of the Cross
For Catholics, the stations of the cross are the stages or steps of Jesus during his betrayal and crucifixion. (See page 162.)

yet could I ransom at least one Soul
This echoes Matthew 20.28: "The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." This connection is enforced by the opening lines of this chapter which mention the stations of the cross.
